    Public Relations Coordinator, Skechers Performance The Public Relations (PR) Coordinator for the Skechers Performance division assists in the development and execution of PR-related activations and initiatives which expand the impact of sport and technical product as well as athletes. This position would help to further elevate the Skechers brand, specifically its Performance division with sport categories that include running, golf, pickleball, and more. This role also provides the Public Relations team with both administrative and operational support, ensuring the PR team remains organized while managing multiple projects at a time. Please note that this is currently a hybrid position, with a combination of remote and in-office work at Skechers’ Manhattan Beach headquarters. In-person collaboration is a key component of this position and as such, scheduling is subjective according to the needs of the department and company. Job Purpose The Public Relations (PR) Coordinator for the Skechers Performance division assists in the development and execution of PR-related activations and initiatives which expand the impact of sport and technical product as well as athletes. This position would help to further elevate the Skechers brand, specifically its Performance division with sport categories that include running, golf, pickleball, and more. This role also provides the Public Relations team with both administrative and operational support, ensuring the PR team remains organized while managing multiple projects at a time. Essential Job Responsibilities
    • Support and coordinate targeted pitches, specifically designed to secure placements, and create earned coverage opportunities for the Skechers Performance division
    • Pitches should target appropriate sport, fitness, sneaker, trend, and lifestyle media when applicable
    • Help build Skechers brand through influencer and celebrity partnerships and seedings
    • Assist in the development and execution of PR-related activations within the Skechers Performance division
    • Stay in-the-know of relevant trends to utilize in pitches
    • Stay in-the-know of relevant events surrounding Skechers Performance ambassadors and products
    • Stay in-the-know of product and technology developments relevant to being the “Comfort Technology Company”
    • Other duties as assigned
    Press
    • Support the planning and execution of PR marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand messaging and target audience
    • Maintain a strategic and creative mindset when developing pitches, providing event support, and assisting in PR-related activations and initiatives – all with the goal of helping to grow the Skechers Performance division
    • Identify and execute brand integration opportunities for relevant sport events working within allocated budgets
    • Identify and execute placements for key company initiatives pertaining to the Skechers Performance division
    • Occasionally assist in media outreach for product placement (digital media, sport/trade magazines, blogs, vlogs, regional/national TV shows)
    • Build and nurture relationships with editors, journalists, reporters, wear testers/reviewers, and other key media contacts
    • Work collaboratively with marketing, digital, social, and product teams to align on messaging
    • Monitor media coverage, compile PR reports, and manage press clippings
    • Scan/screengrab and file press placements for long lead, short lead and online media (daily)
    • Organize daily hits in media monitoring portal, including Google alerts and manual searches (daily)
    • Prepare and ship mailings for gifts, social posts, and new product launches to editors, celebrities, influencers, ambassadors, etc. as needed
    Travel & Events
    • Attend and participate in press events, tradeshows, openings, etc.
    • Travel to key Skechers Performance events as needed
    • Participate and support the annual Skechers Pier-to-Pier Friendship Walk
    • Visit newsstands to purchase magazines and newspapers with press hits when needed
    Organization & Administration
    • Ensure documents are up-to-date to assist in PR forecasting and planning
    • Coordinate PR calendars (master, seasonal pitch, BOBS from Skechers, ambassador posts, etc.)
    • Maintain and build editor contact lists for print, online and broadcast media
    • Assist in building a team rolodex of relevant sport/product wear testers, influencers, celebrities, and “sneakerheads”
    • Support the planning and execution of PR events
    • Organize daily hits in broadcast monitoring portal and delete irrelevant content (daily)
    • Submit and log shoe orders including but not limited to press pulls, influencer giftings, athlete seedings, etc. to data entry
    • Ship and manage inventory of press samples
    Job Requirements
    • Ability to work on-site

    • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
    • Strong writing and editing skills
    • Comfortable working events, including some weekends or travel
    • Strong attention to detail

    • Working knowledge of popular culture and current fashion/footwear trends
    • Working knowledge of basketball, baseball, golf, running, pickleball, and soccer
    • Working knowledge of press outlets, including sports-focused online and print outlets
    • Working knowledge of social media trends, principles, and influencer strategies
    • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT, Teams, etc.)
    • Proficency with Adobe Photoshop and News Exposure
    • Proficency with PR Campaign Management software, specifically Cision
    • Demonstrated interest in Public Relations
    • Genuine and demonstrated interest in fashion, footwear, and fitness
    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising, Communications and/or Marketing or equivalent work experience
    • 3+ years of experience fashion, athletic, or footwear PR experience preferred
    • Previous agency experience preferred
    • Established contacts in sports, fashion, fitness, charity, footwear and TV media preferred
    The pay range for this role is $69,000-$75,000/year.
