Job Description

Our Company

Miso Robotics is transforming the restaurant industry, and making food workers’ lives better. Our signature product is an AI-powered kitchen robot named Flippy which automates the dangerous operation of a restaurant’s fry station and cooks all sorts of fried items. Flippy is powered by a sophisticated AI platform driven by our proprietary and patented technologies.

Miso is a well known first-mover in kitchen automation, AI, and robotics. The company has raised over $150 million from equity crowdfunding, which we believe makes it THE most successful crowdfunding story in history. It has successfully piloted its products with the most prominent global brands in food, and now it’s time for the company to scale.

Our CEO has a track record of successful exits, and we recently accepted a strategic investment and partnership from Ecolab (NYSE: ECL), a $70 billion public company which, as the global leader in sales of cleaning solutions to restaurants, truly knows how to operate at scale.  Our new leadership team is evolving the company’s culture from early stage to growth stage with new processes and disciplines, and is supported by a board that includes the former President and CTO of OpenTable.

With Ecolab’s support, we are building a world-class team, and are looking for more exceptional people to join us.

  • Flexible vacation
  • Comprehensive benefits
  • 401K plan

The Role:

  • The Quality Engineer is a critical role at Miso Robotics responsible for ensuring the seamless transition of new products from design to large-scale manufacturing, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards of quality. This position will lead the development and implementation of inspection plans, collaborate with suppliers to manage material quality, and drive corrective actions to resolve non-conformances. This person will act as a key quality link between customer sites, internal engineering, and our contract manufacturers (CMs), ensuring product issues are not only captured but resolved end-to-end. Additionally, the Quality Engineer will optimize production processes, ensure compliance with ISO standards, and support supplier evaluations. With a hands-on approach to both quality management and product introduction, this role will be instrumental in delivering products that meet rigorous engineering specifications while supporting the company's operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection & Quality Plans : Lead the creation and implementation of inspection plans with our contract manufacturer for incoming, in-process, and final products to meet engineering specs.
  • Supplier Quality Management : Work with suppliers to ensure material quality, conduct audits, and manage supplier compliance (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Corrective Actions : Work cross functionally to Identify root causes of non-conformance and lead initiatives to improve product quality.
  • NPI & Manufacturing : Ensure smooth transitions from design to production through DFM/DFA objectives, process optimization, and risk mitigation for mass production working with contract manufacturers. Define and implement inspection & test plans for incoming, in-process, and final product quality checks. Lead failure analysis during ramp-up builds and oversee rework/disposition plans.
  • Fleet Quality & Field Issue Feedback Loop: Serve as the voice of the fleet—track, triage, and analyze product quality issues reported from customer sites (field failures, support escalations, warranty trends). Coordinate directly with engineering and contract manufacturing teams to close the loop on systemic issues impacting quality. Create and manage dashboards or reports for tracking repeat issues, field performance KPIs, and preventative actions.

  • Test Plan : Manage risks, create,  and oversee testing protocols and documentation. Maintain robust documentation including SOPs, test records, inspection criteria, and process validation reports. Drive process improvements using tools and lean principles to proactively prevent issues and reduce variability.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (Industrial, ME, Manufacturing, etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience in quality assurance, NPI, or supply chain QC.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards, root cause analysis, CAPA, DFM, and FMEA.
  • Experience with CAD programs, PDM systems, and BOM management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, PLM, and quality software (e.g., NetSuite, Arena, Jira).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs., travel up to 30%, and work daily in Pasadena, CA.

Compensation

$100,000-$130,000/yr + Equity + Benefits

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range for candidates residing in the Los Angeles Metro area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus and benefits. If your salary requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply.

At Miso Robotics, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace where every team member is valued and respected. We believe that diversity in our team drives innovation and creativity, which is why we strive to create a welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status.
