Wyndham Destinations: Hawaii Summer Internship program

The Wyndham Destinations Hawaii Summer Internship program is designed to allow the intern the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally in the hospitality environment. The intern can explore career options related to one’s interest, determine key strengths and talents as well as explore their passions.

This Summer Internship program will include, but not limited to :

• Overview of company values and expectations.

• Understanding of Vacation Ownership vs. Hotel Operations.

• Provide a rotation into different departments, with more time allotted to 1 department to allow for a deeper dive.  

  • Potential rotational options: Guest Services, & Housekeeping. The length of each department will depend on business needs and objectives at the time of the rotation. The purpose of the rotations is to allow for a better understanding Wyndham Destinations and learn how each department contributes to the overall success of the company.

• Weekly mentor meetings: To discuss the program, your current rotation, share progress, and there’s always time to ask questions.

• Suggested weekly journaling:  Designed for the intern to track their thoughts, self- reflection, progress and development.

• Complete company mandatory compliance courses.

• Final Presentation to the leadership team to: Share your experiences by summarizing the program/rotations, accomplishments and challenges, and any personal development growth you’d like to share.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in hospitality or business management preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Professional appearance and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Ability to solve problems with a minimum of supervision
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of proper cash handling procedures
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail and strong organizing skills
  • Ability to stand for long period of time
  • Capable of performing repetitious duties
  • Must have physical stamina to lift, carry, push and pull moderate amounts of weight
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and various shifts, including but not limited to, days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic computer and office skills a must
  • Ability to work independently or with others as needed


Job Experience :

One year of customer service experience in a service or retail environment preferred.

Length of internship:

10 – 12 weeks

Location:

  • 1 opportunity in Princeville, Kauai $23.50/hr.

Housing:

This internship does not include housing.

Compensation

Generally starting at $23.50 - $23.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, skills, training, and work location.
